Find Care & Housing
MsMadge,
Everybody knows that CA earthquakes happen in January.
Behaving badly on a Friday night, nevermind me, I am not trying to scare anyone.
No, really, they happen at other times too.
Mwah haha ha.

Well, I did wake up to a 7 on the richter scale, it was on the news, and was reported in Anchorage, Alaska.

The storm is s bad and loud here tonight that  think I'll let the kittens outta their catroom for the night for the very first time ever. I hope they will let me sleep and they don't bite my face.
The Earthquake in Alaska today was a pretty big one at 7 on the rictor scale.I was in a 4.7 Earthquake when I lived there in the 80's,but my dH that grew up in Anchorage said the worst one he ever went through was when he was 14 years old and he was on his paper route and it registered 9.3 and that was in 1964.
Where I come from,I had never been through an Earthquake.I'm more used to tornado's.

Report

Lu- we had bad storms here too, even tornado warnings. Fierce winds came through a little while ago. I am not a fan. Hope kittens weren't too scared. Like me a scared y cat.
I have lived with Ca earthquakes where I grew up, and I would take an earthquake over a tornado any day.
Although where I live now, we have both :(

The kittens were thrilled to get to come be with me in the den tonight, but my old boy cat,Odom is bummed that he had to go back to his room and I will miss being with him tonight.
It was so strange when I experienced that Earthquake in Alaska years ago. I was coming in the door to our duplex and the refrigerator was going up and down off the floor and I thought it was me,seeing things.
Earthquakes and tornadoes are bad but the worst to me would be those fires inCalifornia.

Report

Well that didn't work out too good with the kittens and I had to take them back to their catroom because Odom started howling and crying and I couldn't take it. I just wish so bad  that they all got along so I wouldn't have to separate them at all.
Hopefully the storming will quit soon.

Are the asparagus wrapped in bacon? Is the avocado hidden in guacamole with chips on the side? Are there BEVERAGES?
(2)
Report

You got that right!
Of course Asparagus is wrapped in bacon!
The chips are white corn tortilla chips for the guacamole.

Luckylu, can you bring, like a thousand deviled eggs?

For the fibromyalgia sufferers, there is organic juiced celery to drink, and a handful of blueberries, followed by (3) capsules of Extra-strength Curamin for pain.

And Timothy will bring the whine, Igloo is bringing any leftover Prosecco.

Garden Artist could bring the chocolate!

Can you make it to the butcher down the street, CWillie? We're going to need
italian sausages, and if Bookluver makes it, a few hot dogs, lol.
(4)
Report

Youcan count on me for the deviled eggs Send and I'll make some cheese puffs too.
My dH can have any that hit the floor.
For one of our beverages,I think Hot Toddies would be good in this cold weather too.
(2)
Report

Okay Lu! Hot toddies. How do you make that? 70° and sunny here.

Gershun, Did you get your sweater yet? I know, you can call up your sister and ask to
b or r o w
her UGLY sweater!

My Mom made us Hot Toddies when we were sick and she made 'em with bourbon and honey.
Probably good we had to stay home from school on those days because they were strong but really tasty and I always got to feeling better.

Smeshque and Send,Thanks for sayn' I was a good caregiver.Lord knows I tried and I just did the best I could, but I was also so lucky that Mother still had her mind because I know everything would've been ALOT harder if she wouldn't have had it.She was always so appreciative, kind and loving that I wanted to take goodcare of her and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat if I could.
My dH is a whole different story....It takes all Iv'e got with him.

Did not feel an EQ here MsMadge. Perhaps it was just a practice drill or a nightmare? Hard to feel EQ under 2 or 3 points. But yes, the earth is shaking.

Still trying to decorate here.
Maybe I won't have any lights, and just rent a donkey.

Report

The weather here is 15°C (55°F) and sunny, everyone has burst from their houses in a mad dash to do their unfinished yard work and tweak their Christmas decorations. I've pushed aside my inner grinch and set out my evergreen planters by the door, at the very least I'm sure I'll appreciate the extra light at the entrance.
(5)
Report

I am just not a designer. The rope lights (3) strands are more turquoise and do not match the blue in the net of lights(3 nets, plus 1 brightLED white net).
Even though I love monochromatic, this is just not working.

I am trying to be sensitive to my dH 's preferences: No santa, no wreaths, no christmas trees. If one believes conspiracy theorists or scientists, this is even the wrong time of year to celebrate Jesus' birth.

I have a quirky idea, but absolutely no one would like it. They may throw red vegetables at my house. Instead of a Creche (animals, angels, baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph) here is this:

Only a hand made wooden manger, straw is in it, a light shines up into the sky from the "crib," Looking inside, visitors would see a sign that reads:
" HE IS NOT HERE".

You need MORE lights, maybe some darker blues and some greens.

Another trip to the store. Ok.
But dH needs to participate.

I think your right about time of year and Christ's birth.
I think it was thrown into traditions that now are and stuck. Just saying.
(1)

MsMadge,
Did you turn the pressure cooker off on the tamales?
Maybe that was your EQ at about 3 a.m.?
