Lol, Cwillie.
There are very few who understand my humor.
And I appreciate your humor. But keep flushing in winter!
And keep posting your comments about Covid.

Don't allow the sock puppets to chase anyone away.

Gershun would have something to say about that.

In my area, it was said that people were lining up outside in the rain (hours) to be treated (for anything). Just to get into the hospital. Just a day ago.

How can they do that if they are so sick as to need hospitalization?

Stay home, risk dying. It may be better than decreasing your chances of survival (from anything) by waiting outside in the rain for hours, imo.

Review exactly what is an emergency, and act accordingly. imo.

Geaton,
Sorry for your loss of your friend's sister.

Gershun started this thread to post: "Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. "

Cwillie,
I agree when you say: "I'm getting tired of dismissive comments".
There are some who force an agenda like spammers do. Then cause fights, disagreements, and attack other posters. I am tired of seeing that.

Not to change the subject, but I came on here to say something. I don't feel that it will be welcome. But I will state it, and move on so anyone wanting to sanely discuss Covid can and will.

My comment is not very important-we surely do not need a discussion-or a back and forth. Here it is:

A different perspective on the frustrating night time trips to the bathroom, whether it is the care-gived or the care-giver: Flushing the toilet that many times over night and in the freezing early mornings will prevent the pipes (plumbing) from freezing up. That's a good thing!

sp19690, you are also speculating that the error alone would have killed her. People survive hospital screw-ups all the time (as did another friend who had his colon perforated during a colonoscopy). At this point it is unknown what eventually lead directly to her death BUT if the sister had the vaccine it is possible that even if she did get covid she may not have required a trip to the hospital in the first place. My mother (92) was an RN her whole life. She has told me that during holidays the less experienced/less tenured staff is who is manning the hospitals. This is just a fact. Yes, there is a labor shortage right now, with no end in sight so they are lowering standards. And yes, it was certainly incompetence and error that would not have happened if she would have not required hospitalization in the first place. Do you see that not needing to be hospitalized for covid is very important? Getting vaccinated and remaining unvaccinated both carry risks. She chose to take the wrong risk *based on her age and underlying health issues (smoking)*. And I don't know if she had others, like high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, etc. I'm just so dismayed at another totally preventable premature death.

FYI, I never get the seasonal flu shots so it's not like I "love" vaccinations, especially barely vetted ones, but covid (for now) is different. And I had covid and it left me with post-virus problems that I wish I didn't have. I didn't have the opportunity to decide to preemptively get the vaccination (because it hadn't been released to my age group at that point), but I definitely would have if I could have, based on my age and health. I'm not getting any of the boosters. I just read that the most recent booster immunity for Omicron only lasts about 10 weeks.

Way to blame covid for the medical staff incompetence. Medical mistakes kill around 250,000 people every year and is the third cause of death in the USA. So please don't blame this on those poor over worked nurses and doctors since they have been screwing up and killing people ling before covid.

Hospitals are short staffed because they decided to fire every nurse and doctor who refused to take the vaccine. Many also quit before they were fired to seek employment where they wouldnt be forced to inject an experimental vaccine into their bodies. Or they just decided to retire early. If these nurses are so
Burned out they should not be working since they are knowingly putting patients lives at risk due to their own fatigue. I wonder how those singing nurses had time to go to the White House over christmas last week since hospitals are so short staffed. Wouldn't they have better served the community working than singing for Joe Biden? Reminds me of the height of the pandemic when all this nurses were making tik tok videos while people were dying. Talk about priorities.

And way to go blaming this woman for her own demise because she got covid and was out on a vent instead of who really caused her death. I hope the family sues for malpractice.

I'm getting tired of dismissive comments about every comment about covid illness, death or other concerns. Maybe if health care workers weren't burned out and overwhelmed after 2 years of increased work loads, overtime, working short staffed and abuse from patients who accuse them of being part of some sort of conspiracy the mistake would not have happened. Not to mention if the poor woman had not had covid she wouldn't have needed to be ventilated in the first place.
Geaton, I'm sorry for your loss.

Geaton it sounds like the sister died not from covid but the perforation caused by the improper vent. So no she did not die from covid she died because of an incompetent medical staff.

These hospitals get big money for venting a patient and since covid they will vent just about anyone. I know because every time my mil went to the hospital they automatically vented her every time and we had to fight each time to get the vent removed. That and remsivider are killing more people than actual covid.

Until the government stops paying for covid testing and covid incentives this is never going to stop. Greed seems to rule the medical profession at the moment.

You only have speculation that vaccination would have spared her a trip to the hospital. There are many hospitalized that are vaccinated and the way they play fast and loose with what they consider fully vaccinated is the true crime.

Most Doctors and nurses are not reporting vaccine related injuries to vaers and there are no variants. That is just scare mongering tactics to get more people jabbed.

The unvaxxed have a less that 1% chance of needing hospitalization if they get covid. Not to mention many vaccinated are getting strokes and blood clots from said vaxx. If you want to take all the never ending boosters for the rest of your life go right ahead. But i resent the blatant propaganda and fear tactics by the CDC, fauci, the biden admin and the media in trying to coerce everyone to get jabbed.

Not to mention all their flip flopping on everything which is not science but politics. The latest being the shortening of quarantine times from 10 days to 5 days not because of science but because of dollar signs.

Just found out our very good friend's sister passed from covid on Sunday. She was 60, a prior smoker (quit 5 years ago) and unvaccinated. The worst part of this story is that when they vented her they put it in wrong the first time. When they re-vented her they perforated something, and things went horribly wrong from there. It is possible that, had she been vaccinated, she might never have needed a trip to the hospital in the first place. I'm begging people *who are in the risk groups* to please get a vaccination. Let me reiterate that I believe that people should be in charge of their own medical destiny, BUT there is nothing about the vaccine that is a bigger risk to you than getting covid if you have pre-existing health issues and are above 60. Please understand that the original variant is probably still out there, as well as Delta... please at least get the first vaccine.

Some folks have everything stripped away by the new year in order to take advantage of their time off work, those are generally the ones who started Christmas in November.
Some wait til spring, because it's winter and they don't want to cope with undecorating in the cold
And some leave their lights up year round.....

So I was lying in bed trying to sleep and Gordon Lightfoot's Song for a Winter's Night drifted through my brain and I just had to get up and try to find it on YouTube - I can't remember the last time I've even thought of that song and I've no idea why it came to me (other than it obviously being a winter's night). The mind is a mysterious thing. I've got my mom in my head too, those last days and hours. I notice that it's the full moon, maybe that's it.
