Find Care & Housing
cwille,

I like your suggestions. It’s so time consuming to do this. Grrrrrr.

I love your file idea. I was afraid that someone would say to scrapbook. I never jumped on the scrapbooking train! A file doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. plus it doesn’t require a ton of effort and is space saying as well.

Thanks! So, I will have to learn to condense what I have but I know that I will be glad that I did.

My sis has boxes and boxes of school stuff from her boys, my advice is to keep one or two things from each grade/year and pitch the rest - that should cut it down to a file folder or a small box.
The family heirlooms are hard because they are irreplaceable, my advice there is to USE them someway, I've pulled all the quilts from my cedar chest and have them displayed in my rec room. (Nobody sees them but me but at least they aren't hidden away!)
I've got the top of my parent's wedding cake, the traditional bride and groom (I may still have sis's too). It was always on display in their china cupboard and I just couldn't toss it when I was clearing out the house.

I am sick of organizing and preparing to place our home on the market! I am totally exhausted. I stayed up way too late and had coffee. Can’t unwind but exhausted!

Our real estate agent has given us homework! She has said that we have to clear out the closets because people like to envision placing their belongings in the space.

I am finding stuff from so long ago that I forgot I even had. Plus, I must be a sentimental fool. LOL 😆, because I have so much stuff packed in boxes from my kids! I can’t believe that I saved all of this! I have from preschool to graduation! I have every certificate, honor roll certificates, awards for this and that, trophies galore, volleyball trophies, swimming awards, dance stuff, gymnastics, art and theater! What do I do with it all? Should I offer it to my girls or pitch it? It’s crazy to keep everything! Oh my gosh, I was crying going down memory lane, thinking about how cute they were! Is anyone else as nutty as I am and saved everything pertaining to their kids?

I am a huge music lover! Okay, my new car doesn’t have a CD player. So, all of my CDs were in my closet, all of the kids Disney movies. I don’t even own a recorder anymore to play the movies on, so why on earth did I keep them?

I like a neat house so it all ended up in my closets! Don’t even get me started in photos!

Once all of the crap goes, I swear I am never going to stash anything in my closet again. I didn’t know where to put it all. It’s now in one of my spare bedrooms! I thought my agent was nuts telling me to get a dumpster and a storage unit. She knows what she was talking about!

Some things I don’t know what to do with. I have my grandmother’s crochet and knitting books. She gave me her sewing machine that she bought from a door to door salesman. I have my great aunt’s tea set that we shared many cups of tea with. Memories! But I can’t keep it all!

Did any of you keep the top of your wedding cake? I chose ‘wedding bells’ because I hated the dorky looking bride and groom toppers! Hahaha

My mind is on overload. It was so much easier to move when I was single, young and broke! LOL I hardly had anything to move. It’s a good thing too, because I could only afford tiny apartments!

My DD took me for a massage today, and it was wonderful, my belated MD gift. I have been trying to get one every month or so, and every time I do I remember why! But I am one of those gals who likes to just enjoy the event.. not talk all through it! Be it a massage, pedicure, whatever,, I always get the chatty one! Today she asked me all the questions,, then chatted the whole event.. and kept getting my job,, hospital,, you name it,, wrong!! Then kept going on about how terrible todays young people are.. Yep,, my massage paid for by homeowning, employed and vaccinated daughter,, sometimes you just can;t win..

Vaccine or not,
You're gonna have snot.
You shoulda have bought
A stockpile of kleenex to go
Along with excessive t.p.
For the broadway show.

But if you can play dead,
Or just hide in your bed
You won't get Covid, instead
The vaccine will get you
in the end.
Love from Send.

LuckyLu,

That works! It’s a combo tune! LOL Your own unique melody.

If it’s a book title, please let us know when the movie comes out! I will stand in line for that one! Hey, at least now I get a ‘senior’ discount at the movie theater!

Then Broadway! 🤣 hahaha
May I play the lead role. I took drama in school. Want to hear something funny? I actually did play a part where I was shot dead! I had to learn how to fall and not get hurt. I was furious because my drama teacher told the rest of my class to pick the lightest kid in the class to be killed, because they had to be carried off the stage. I was it! I only weighed a little over 90 lbs. I was only 96 lbs when I graduated high school.

LuckyLu,

😂 🤣😆, I can’t decide if (Guns and Free Weed and All I Got was a Sore Arm!) sounds like a rock, blues or country tune! Thanks for the laugh, too funny!!! Either way, it’s a song or book title! I think that you may have a best seller on your hands. You could top the charts!

I've been so jealous when I read about all the perks being offered in the US to encourage people to get vaccinated, but I think today's NPR headline tops them all - "Hey Washingtonians! Get A Vaccine. Smoke A Joint." Say what? They're even giving away free weed!!!😲

today I went to a funeral at Arlington.. my BFF lost her husband 1 1/2 years ago and his service was today. It got pushed back once due to COVID, and so today was the day. I got chills just driving into the site, and the service was so beautiful and powerful. She had to have him creamated and she will be buried with him when her time comes. All the soldiers were out putting flags on the graves,, so inspiring. Although the drive was horrible, I was so honored to be there.

Sendhelp, that is a great link! Sometimes I have things like this on in the background, and my cats will hear it and come to take a look, if there's a bird video. They then keep looking round the back of the i pad to see where the birds have gone! You cannot beat the sound of a blackbird singing, and they are at their best in May. I feed them sultanas while I'm gardening, so they're always nearby with their lovely song.

Golden, thank you. I’m so sorry about your son. That does put things into perspective for me. I’ve been getting on with some gardening today, just taking one day at a time. I am thankful for the birdsong that has kept me company all day.

chriscat - many years ago we had 20 deaths of friends and family (which included a number of young people) in a 5-year span. It was unreal. And that was before my youngest son was killed. I remember one day aged 13, he told me that he had his next funeral outfit picked out. You don't want that for your 13 year old. Every time the phone rang I expected bad news. One day I found myself grieving 2 uncles, 2 cousins, and a friend and didn't really know who I was grieving for. I did it in batches. Yes, you have to look for the positives and just keep on going. The floor still needs to be swept, meals still need to be made, and enjoyed, and so on. Time helps. (((((((hugs)))))) I understand.

NeedHelp, that moon was wonderful here last night. I had my second COVID jab in the evening, then drove home as the moon was rising from behind our hill. It creates an optical illusion when it does this, so the moon looks enormous against the horizon. I was so grateful to get my second jab and despite everything that is happening at the moment, it’s important to see and be thankful for the positives.

I can’t sleep tonight. Just walked outside to see the moon. It’s absolutely stunning!

Completely full moon with clouds floating by. Sort of eerie looking like something out of an Edgar Allen Poe poem!

I just got an invitation to book a vaccine appointment from the original pharmacy site where I signed up over 2 months ago - meanwhile I am now 3 weeks post 1st dose and feeling pretty happy I didn't wait. I really thought that there was a screw up and that got lost in cyber space so I never expected to hear from them, the long delay is kind of concerning if you figure some people have probably been waiting all this time 🤔
