Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
I recall that my grandson, a bit younger, ended up in the ER with breathing issues and the nurse wanted to get something done quickly. My son in law basically body blocked her and insisted on explaining to him what the nurse was going to do. I have NEVER been so proud of him, but it took quick thinking and courage to do it.
I'll pray that someone kind will sit there tomorrow, say her name out loud and send special thoughts out to the universe. I think of her every day. Tomorrow won't be any different.
It's the anniversary of my mom's death tomorrow. I usually go and sit on the bench we had dedicated to her at her favorite park across from where she used to live on this day. I've got five remaining siblings and yet I'm usually the only one who goes. Because it's Mother's Day tomorrow and it may be crowded there I may have to skip it this year. Even with covid I imagine there will be the usual mob there. I usually have to sit patiently (or not) waiting for someone to move from the bench when I go. I haven't been feeling well lately so not sure I'm up to it this time. If I don't go I'm sure my mom would understand.
You have been busy!
Going by what is happening 'out there' in the world, I am content to stay home.
Later, I am going to check on the live beach cams throughout the world.
Then try to shower all that sand off between my toes.
Hope your weekend is everything you thought it could be.
See you later....
It’s a beautiful day here! I am getting ready to eat a quick bite of something before I go to my hair appointment.
I have checked all my usual web sites, gone for a long walk, and played what seems like a thousand games of scrabble and solitaire. I'd go for another walk but my feet hurt, and besides the weather is cold and cloudy and unpleasant. Can't go anywhere because we are still supposed to stay at home (but judging by the volume of traffic everybody else is having family visits for mother's day weekend anyway) And..... it's only 2:30......
(sigh)
Our moms lived a long life! Mom was 95!
We are having mom’s service soon.
Our moms will be there with us in spirit. At least that’s how I feel.
They are united with our dads now, free from any pain and at peace.
Fantastic!
Can you sign up for more than one location?
People do that here. They take first available.
They are asked to cancel the others.
Sometimes they do, other times not.
Then they have to find others to receive the vaccine which isn’t an issue unless it’s near closing time.
Most of the 80+ group who want it have received their first dose of Pfizer, we have only recently opened that tier up for those 70+ (65+ in some places) and other identified high risk groups.
I am a news junkie and I like to check the BBC, ABC, Al Jazzera for different perspectives. And of course MSN likes to try to shove American news down our throats on their platform.
I hope that you are able to get your shot soon!
I would take the first available vaccine.
So true. I believe that Astra even said the blood clots may or may not be related to the vaccine. Who knows, right?
I got the Moderna. No issues except sore arm.
Restrictions are letting up here.
If you are interested, EU and UK regulatory authorities are giving an update later on today about the AZ jab and any potential side effects.
Since we’re just starting to emerge cautiously from a 3 month lockdown, it’s hard to see whether the dramatic reduction in UK hospitalisations and deaths are purely linked to the lockdown, or to the vaccination programme as well, but early indications are that the jab is doing its job. It’s reducing the number of cases through the protection it offers, reducing person to person transmission of the virus, and virtually eliminating serious illness, hospitalisation and death amongst those who might still get the virus after the jab.
Do they still have age restrictions on Astra?
Did you get your shot yet?
Certainly better than wasting the shot, even if there are age restrictions.
I know people that refuse to take any vaccine. They are afraid and no one can convince them.
I would be more afraid of getting Covid, than enduring the side effects.
Yes, there is Johnson and Johnson, only one shot. It’s supposed to be slightly less effective.
There was an issue with Astra in younger people (under 60), it was causing blood clots. I don’t know if it’s still like that.
