Hi Llama,

“But I only recently starting eating raspberries as a gut help. Thank you, though.”

I understand. But it can’t be the first time in your life you eat raspberries. For sure you tried as a child, and also as an adult. And no headaches happened.

I really don’t think they caused your headaches.

Sinus headaches are common and well-known. I think that’s much more likely.

Hope the medicine they gave you helps a lot!!

What does the doctor think is the cause of your headaches?

So I had my DH take me to emergent care facility today for the headache and possible sinusitis. I was appalled at the treatment I received!! I told the doctor that I have had sinusitis many times and what the antibiotic was that helped rid it. She refused any antibiotic and slammed the paperwork down on the table, stormed out like a child, leaving the cabinet open. As I was walking out, I fortunately heard a staff member call out "Ma'am." He gave me Flonase. Irate, I stopped at the front desk to tell them it was shocking to say the least and to get a phone number to call. This was hard for me as I am a very unconfrontational person. A person goes to the doctor to get well, not to be screamed at.

Llama,

Have you been tested for allergies? New allergies can develop at any point in time.

I hope that your headaches and sinus infections let up soon.

HH,

It’s true, we often meet very special people along the way during tough times, whether it’s caregiving for someone else or our own struggles.

Thanks for sharing such a lovely story. I am glad that your mom had a happy birthday and that you were able to enjoy the celebration too.

It can be hard to find reasons to be happy when there is pain and suffering involved.

My mom died at the age of 95. I grew so tired of caregiving. I did try to make her birthdays special for her. Caregiving often ends up being a mixed bag of emotions.

Hang in there, HH. I wish you peace and joy in your life.

Thanks House! We also don’t use an agency.

House, I’m so glad you and your mom had such a touching bday party for your mom!! 95!!

I’m really glad the caregivers are very good, kind, warm people!!

I found all of them on Nextdoor. We are not using an agency.

House, can you tell me how you found those caregivers? Through an agency? Through word of mouth?

That’s really wonderful House!!

“so many of the people I’ve met along the way are so caring, compassionate and decent.”

For me, the exact opposite. Never in my life have I met that many people who’re dishonest, bullies, scheming, thieves, rude…

(I’m talking about the health“care” business.) (We’ve had bad luck with some caregivers, social workers, etc…)

So not a whine moment. Just wanted to share that my mom’s 3 caregivers threw a her a 95th birthday party yesterday afternoon. They decorated the house, brought all sorts of goodies. I managed to get out of my funk and pitched in to make the day festive .

Local family came, we all spent a really nice afternoon. These ladies were here on their own time.

I am so touched by what they did for her. This caregiving journey may be tough but so many of the people I’ve met along the way are so caring, compassionate and decent. I am just so grateful to have these women with us on this journey. If there actually are angels among us, I’d say these three certainly are.

I think sinus infection is more likely. If it had been the berries, you would have noticed that years ago and many times, and you would have stopped eating them long ago.

Get well soon!!!

cwillie: After consideration, it may be a sinus infection starting. I will go to emergent care facility when I wake up tomorrow afternoon. I rarely drink hot tea, btw.

Oh interesting, I knew raspberry roots and leaves are high in tannin but wouldn't have thought the fruit would be. So you can't drink tea either?

ventingisback: Thank you. Raspberries' tannin count is the culprit. No sleep issues NOW. No medication side effects. Could be a sinus infection starting.

cwillie: Thank you. The tannin count in raspberries is the migraine trigger.

Llama:
I don’t think it’s the berries. Do you sleep badly? Too little? Sometimes people get headaches from too little sleep, day after day. How about medicines? Check any medicines you take. Sometimes the side-effect is headaches.

Getting headaches from berries is not something I have heard about before Llama.

Llama,

Nope, I have never had a headache from any kind of berries. I eat berries every week.

So sorry about your headache. Sounds awful 😞.

Meant to add - has anyone eaten raspberries and gotten a headache? Thank you in advance.

Raspberries - good for the gut, bad for the head. Headache trigger at least I hope it's that. Headache for days.

So, has TikTok caused people to lose their minds?

I just heard about parents cracking eggs on their kids heads, instead of cracking eggs on a bowl.

Geeeeeeeeez! Craziness! LOL 😆

Why do people follow crazy trends?

hereIam,

There is an exercise thread on this forum. Someone mentioned a ‘walk in place’ YouTube video on it. You could try that. Exercise not only helps with losing weight, it’s a great stress buster!

venting,

Okay, 👍

Hugs back.

Some people truly are obsessed about every calorie that enters their body.

My mom was so vain that she weighed herself every single morning! If she gained a pound she would starve herself.
