Think I'll take some steaks out of the freezer tonight. This past week since we got home from vacation has just been mostly fast food or sandwiches, and I'm tired of that - it's depleting my bank account and isn't good for either of us. It's just convenient and easy, is all. I have a pile of dishes in the sink to wash, and 90% of the house is still covered in dust from the work that was done while we were gone. I just haven't gotten to it yet. My work has had me slammed since we returned. Add to that a nasty run-in with the ex and then learning that I couldn't go see my son because of my own screw up with the dates and you have the makings of a long, depressing week!

Starting to pull myself out of the doldrums, however, and should be back on my feet by tomorrow. Now if I could just get Mom to do her necessary hygiene....

im not far from bed tonight . back on my wood cutting gig and it takes the mischief out of a person ..
im afraid i cant even visit the hepc chat group anymore . there are few things more annoying than someone who has got it set in their mind that theyre never going to get better . ive probably cut 50 ton of firewood in the same three months that these people have been pissin and moaning over downright silly things . no wonder the hepc team had so much fun outta me . they were probably giving me dollar store baby aspirin and calling it olysio / sovaldi . lol
i told one nurse i was gonna bust up all my leftover ribavirin and sell it to crackheads . little jerks wanna get their froth on , riba is the stuff ..
( riba would make a person fistfight a tree ) .

I have 6 pounds (3kg) of Walleye, aka Yellow Pike or Pickerel caught this morning in Lake Erie off Dunkirk NY. They are seasoned with pepper, garlic, lemon juice and a strip of bacon, to be grilled in foil and served up with corn on the cob and garlic mashed red potatoes. :-)

Nice, Pam!

We're doing steaks on the grill tonight. Last night ended up being a "clean out the fridge" night and we had leftovers. Tonight is grilled steak, salad and baked potato.
Might steam some broccoli for myself, Mom won't eat green veggies unless they're green beans.

I have a *huge* Lake Superior Whitefish in the freezer - my sister brought it back from her last trip for Mom. So I have to dig my cast iron skillet out of storage (that should be interesting) and cook it on the grill outside. Mom wants it breaded and fried, and I refuse to cook it in the freshly-painted kitchen and make it smell like fish.

i havent traveled much kaz . just germany as a young soldier. im an international news junky tho . i too , would pay garth brookes to sthu . im taking your advice about the dairy products -- taking it straight to town and getting myself a gallon of peanut butter swirl ice cream . lol
the fresh fish sounds great pam .
im just feeling weak and sickly today . no one here to baby me so ill get some good ice cream and baby myself .
my type of work is a strange animal . after a couple days of this strenuous crap you have to take a day to rest or you would probably die young ..

Walleye is fish of choice in Minnesota restaurants. You can even get it on a stick at the state fair. It is not as widely available at the meat counter, so to serve at home you have to get lucky at the grocery or on the lake!

Treated myself to a store bought roast chicken. I cook and eat healthy but once in a while I need a treat. I don't care much for fish unless it's fish and chips (I grew up in England). Ran a couple of errands and went to the NH (3rd time in 4 days aaarrgh) then mowed for 3.5 hours.

Almost 6 p.m., marrow bones roasting for the dogs and I'm pooped. Time to do playtime and clean up my little rescue kitten, Lucy, who's in quarantine right now, feed everyone and flop in front of tv with my supper. {yaaawn}

i was in the city of hanau -- which ironically had a nuclear fuel processing plant -- so the 3rd armored division was distributed around and thruout that city to defend the mox plant . we were occuppyers for over 50 yrs kaz .
the americans and allies invaded closer to 1944 . the soviet union occuppied the east of germany , west germany was divided between the american , british , and french sectors . supposedly we were there to contain russia but russia didnt start two global wars , its the germans we were babysitting . i was there from 1976 - 1979 .
uncle ivan was too drunk to storm the border and we were trippin balls . nobody in their right mind would start crap with soldiers wound up on lsd ..
the ice cream made me feel immensly better . i cant speak for everyone but i only eat in order to live . i operate by cravings . i could eat everything in the house and still not feel nourished if im not following those cravings ..
hope you do come stateside someday kaz . i dont have much to offer a guest except some country trike riding . its the most relaxing thing you could imagine .
im 55 yrs old kaz ..

yea kaz . i think the dam things are cheaper here than where you live . we have a china buffet that serves mussels on the shell in cream cheese . id pass up prawn and lobster all day long for those s*its ..
my youngest son just stopped by . its interesting -- the older those boys get the more they seem to understand why dads sometimes snarl .. its because we wont accept less than their best .. im going to get old and die eventually . they have an obligation to pass on the mechanical , electrical , masonry , etc that ive shared with them .. theyre both pretty smart . one builds engines professionally , the other just passed his federal advanced emt exam -- not a simple feat ..
