The facility was giving my father a bi-monthly injection of testosterone and then refused and said he would need to hire a home health nurse to administer it. They have an RN, and LPN in addition to the med techs who have been administering it. We live in AZ.

Do they have a doctor's order? I don't think a nurse can refuse unless it isn't legal.

My father is the most calm, complacent man. He is not combative at all. They are saying it is liability on their part.

It could be a change in professional indemnity insurance or something daft like that - are they giving other residents injections, or your father other types of injection?

If they still are giving injections in principle, then you'd better ask them what their problem is. I expect Jeanne's in the right area.

Why are they refusing? Is he being combative when they attempt to give the shot?
