I've been taking care of my mom with Alzheimer's for about 2 months. She can not live alone. Cant do meals, remember meds or find things in her own home. With me she is confused on everything. Needs told to do everything (wash, what clothes to wear, brush hair ect) She would just sit in chair all day and stare if not told to do something. Shows no emotion and barely talks unless taked to. Also will sit and stare at tv shows with no movement or emotion even when it's funny. Tried books, games no interest. Needs some type of interaction with people besides me but Senior Day Cares are closed. Any thoughts will help. At wits end. Wife and I very frustrated.
Adult daycare may start to open soon, if not already, and give you some respite from caregiving. However, don't expect any different behavior there than you experience at home.
Did you have reason to think that her abilities were different before she moved in with you?
