Without more information we cannot help you. You are in the Trenton area, there should be help. Adult Protection Services, Office of the Aging. If you aren't getting returned calls, then u need to keep calling. If you feel threatened, call the police. Get a neighbor to call APS saying there is a vulnerable Senior.

This forum has members from all over the US. We share our caregiving experiences. Unless there is a member who lives in the same state, its hard for us to give specific information. Sorry.

I found this link on line and it lists all 50 states and whom to contact besides the police.

What role do you play?  Are you a friend, observer, relative?  I ask b/c what you might be able to do depends on your relationship and possible authority to involve others.

Anyone is able to report abuse. There are those that are required reporters due to their profession. They may not be able to function as a guardian but they can report abuse.

Check with your local senior services center, they may be able to have more information and contacts to help out. Sometimes seniors are afraid to tell because they fear retaliation from the family member. Have you seen the harassment yourself in person? Only reason I ask is there are times seniors will cry wolf when it comes to family (poor me syndrome) when they're pissed because they were not allowed to do something or were doing something to put themselves in peril (ignoring dr orders, not taking meds, using stairs without supervision, not using cane/walker cuz of vanity or not wanting to "look" old) and when confronted about the negative behavior they get pissy cuz they were caught and called out on it. Think 3 year old temper tantrum, pouting, frowning, poor me to others, she's picking on me, he's so mean, I can't do anything I want..... on the other side of the coin, many of our seniors are abused, not only physically but also emotionally. Neglect of their needs, basic living requirements are ignored. Bathing, timely depends changes, proper nutrition that tastes good and is good for them, poor medication maintenance, go by the wayside. It's a fine line to walk to sort truth from fiction. Another option is contact your local states attorney office. Explain to them the situation, that you have attempted to contact others about this situation and could they please help out. If your friend is in peril they can get no contact, also open investigation into the situation and possibly appoint a court ordered guardian to look out for them and their best interests.

Other than Adult Protective Services and the Police Department I have no other ideas of available help. Very sorry this is happening.

If a senior is being harassed, they should call the police and file for an order of protection, shouldn't they?
