I am the 24/7 caregiver for my Mom for many years. Two older siblings are her POAs. Neither lives with my mom. My brother knows nothing of her care nerds or routines, never shows any intetest in her, and never even stops to visit her anymore. Can he be revoked and can I be added on in his place ad a co-POA with my sister? My mom has dementia and she has also lost use of het dominant hand. She can no longer sign anything. I need to be able to sign for her if neither my brother or sister can be reached.

Diane, can your mother understand the concept of having someone else make financial and legal decisions for her? Only Mom can change the POA -- you cannot. Dementia doesn't automatically mean she can't make the change, but she must be competent to understand what she is doing.

And, BTW, it is a real can of worms to have more than one person POA.

Too damn right you can and SHOULD! My sister lives abroad and INSISTS shes made POA? I am main caregiver need access to money for bills etc.. why the hell are these people POA when they are not directly responsible for her care? Maybe a threat that youre made POA or you resign as carer! Ive told my sis you want POA then leave your job come home and look after her! My mum will not discuss POA and changes the subject i need this done soon or we are in big trouble financially! I dont mind having joint POA but either im on it as maincarer or I walk!
