It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. My husband’s dentures no longer fit after a lot of weight loss. He is in memory care, and the staff at his facility purées or minces all of his food. He usually eats it all, and says it is “good.” You can use a blender or food processor to do this at home.
A good dentist can make adjustments to acommodte changes to dentures. Whether adjustments or new dentures are apporpriate may depend upon the life expectancy of the patient.
I did not see the op lives across the country. The op asked what to do about poor fitting dentures and I gave her a remedy. My mom's AL did a TON of things to help her with whatever she needed, the OP can certainly ask them to apply this newer Poligrip, big deal. Perhaps mom can do it herself even, thats not unheard of at 102. My uncle was fully functional at that age.
There's probably very little you can do from across the country. IMO staff at her AL are not going to fuss with things like Poligrip, aside from applying it to the denture it needs to be scrubbed off every day too, and judging by comments from the forum it's hard enough to get adequate care for teeth let alone dentures. I'm not sure how to say this without being blunt - lots of the very old do very well without teeth, does she really need them any more?
Several things. The dentist can re-line the dentures for a better fit. This can be done periodically. No denture fits perfectly after awhile as the gums shrink up after teeth are lost. Poligrip has a fairly new product out called Super Poligrip Max Denture Adhesive 12 Hour Hold.
A little of this adhesive spread over the surface of the denture is like cement. If need be, you can sprinkle a LIGHT film of Poligrip powder over the adhesive application. Beware, you may need a wrench to get them out though 😂🤣😃
Obviously, the best thing to do is get a new set of denture(s) if possible. But try my recipe in the meantime.
