My 96 year old mom can cry easily. She gets tearful because she can not do what she use to do when she was younger and feels weaker. Her mind is pretty good, just forgetful on daily events. She is well aware her days are numbered. She only takes thyroid medication, vitamins, and melatonin. I am just wondering if Zoloft could help her feel better and decrease her mourning her younger years. Thanks everyone.

P.S. I'm taking Zoloft the last month from having caregiver stress and anxiety myself, lol!

Momma has been on zoloft for years but when she was living in her house she did not take any of her meds correctly. She was on a roller coaster. Now that she is in assisted living her meds are given correctly. She went from 20 mg of Zoloft to 100 mg plus they put her on aniexty meds. Has helped her tremendously!! Believe me -because I am her personal whipping post.

I would say yes and assume that may be the best choice but since there are many maybe that should be discussed. I am on Cymbalta and it has helped me and also helps with chronic pain. I liked Wellbutrin but felt it made my sleep issues more difficult and I am very prone to problematic sleep issues. I guess your mother's chief concern should correspond with a specific medication for that issue.

My dad took Zoloft his last several years. It was a great help for him, lessened his anxiety, fear, and worry. We never saw any negative side effects

My husband became agitated easily when first diagnosed and he has been on a low dosage of Zoloft for eight years. The doctor said it is low enough dosage to help and low enough to up the dosage if needed. So he does not show irritation and anger while on it.
