My Mom had died on April 26,2015. He was diagnosed w ACL in July then dementia & Alzheimer's in Nov. Then in April he got angry & moved back to TN married a woman he met in 2 weeks, she is not taking him anymore for chemo he took me off his POA. I was taking care of him & just took for 5 days of chemo at local Levine Cancer ctr just concerned for his health & welfare what can I do? I know she married him for his check
Don't just see any attorney. Consult one who specializes in Elder Law.
(Stopping the chemo may not be a sign of not being able to make decisions for himself. Many people of sound mind do that.)
If he knows he has Alzheimers, perhaps he decided to stop chemo treatment. It's not an unusual choice.
The POA may still be good, but he may have revoked it. Do you know if his wife has a current one? Also, often when you are out of state, you may have to get another person in the state where he is living to exercise POA. It varies by state.
Do you talk to him now? Do you have any reason to believe that he's not being treated fairly?
