Facility pharmacy is requesting I sign a financial responsibility agreement requesting me to take financial responsibility if mom exhausts Medicare days. She is in long-term care and back after a hospital stay but doing well. The form seems focused on copays and deductibles. Mom has been at facility two years but the servicing pharm has decided it needs these forms and signatures now. I'm feeling very skeptical. What happens if I don't sign the forms?
If they are asking you to act as her guarantor, and it's your money they're talking about, then I struggle to see what's in this deal for you and I wouldn't sign it. But if that's the case, call them and ask what exactly they are expecting you to do.
My loved one is and she is responsible for some out of pocket costs for medication, even after Medicare and then Medicaid cover it, although it sounds bizarre.
She has to pay that from her little $66.00 that she gets to keep each month, but they can't force her to pay more and anything that I signed on her behalf, I signed as POA on her behalf.. I did not sign anything that would obligate myself to pay for her expenses.
I would talk to a lot of people before I signed anything obligating yourself.
I would not sign them.
