Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. APFM does not (and may not) require or even ask consumers seeking senior housing or care services in Washington State to sign waivers of liability for losses of personal property or injury or to sign waivers of any rights established under law.I agree that: A.I authorize A Place For Mom ("APFM") to collect certain personal and contact detail information, as well as relevant health care information about me or from me about the senior family member or relative I am assisting ("Senior Living Care Information"). She's small, has large breasts, wants comfortable support. Must be sources for that She likes a little support but doesn't want anything binding. There must be companies that specialize in foundations for older women.
If you have a Hanes/Leggs store, they have trained fitters and a wide selection of brands & styles. We have one in an outlet mall and I have found them very helpful. Plus their sales can be very good.
My cousin has always been large busted. She lost a lot of weight though and now has a lot of sagging in her breast. Her large, older bras were too big and she hated wearing them. She would literally cry when I insisted she wear them. So, I measured her underneath her breast with a tape measurer. I took that number and used as her bra size, and bought a couple of inexpensive, front enclosure bras from Walmart. In two sizes smaller in cup from her old bras. They fitted perfectly on her and she said they were so comfortable! I went back and bought her 4 more. ( Tip, the ALF does put them in the dryer, so next time I will get a little larger size due to shrinkage.)
I also bought her a couple of sports bras, but with sagging breast skin, they did not work at all. They did not fit right and I returned them.
jeannegibbs, those bras at Victoria Secret look so terribly uncomfortable, plus one has to be a size 0 and be a C or D cup for one to look like one of their models.... that ship had sailed years ago :P
The most comfortable bras I have ever worn are mastectomy bras as the bras are well built, reasonably priced, and anyone can wear them.
Do you have an outlet mall near you? Employees of the Playtex stores have fitting experience and Playtex makes a wide variety of comfortable bras. I agree with the sources for front opening bras called arthritis adapted. They have finger loops and hooks and the Silvert's website has videos demonstrating. Also I have seen where Macy's will have days set aside with visiting fitters that you make an appointment with. You might call the larger department stores and inquire.
I remember back in the 1960's, one could go to a department store and the store would have a bra fitter to fit you to the correct size. Try to find a store today that has such a fitter is far and few between.
I know my Mom needs help being fitted as she is still ordering the same style bra she has had for decades, but her body has changed so such in that area that what she is wearing no longer works and gives her no shape at all :(
Is she able to put the bra on herself? Does she need it to be adaptive -- for example, opening in front?
Do you know her exact size? Will she have to try them on?
Two online sources for special bras are Silverts and Buck and Buck. I'm sure if you Google Adaptive Clothing you will find other potential sources.
If she has no particular need for easy-to-put-on or special features, or if her size is uncertain, you may have to do what I did -- shop locally for her, bring a half dozen styles home at a time, and make the returns clerk your new best friend. :)
