If possible, your Mother can pay you. You would need to draw up an employment schedule saying how much you would be paid per hour, how many hours per day, what days you would have off, and if she will be paying the payroll taxes or if you would be paying the taxes as an *independent contractor*.

Check with your Council on Aging to see what programs they have which will help you during the week which are free of charge, like having an Aide come to the house for a couple of hours to give you a break.

If your Mother is on Medicaid, they will not pay for a relative to take care of an elder. It is far cheaper for Medicaid to place the parent into a nursing home where they would get three 8-hour shifts of caregivers... who go home and are fresh the next day to work.... and who get days off during the week.... and who are able to take a day off if they are sick or schedule vacation time.

Please note, one out of every three Caregiver passes on leaving behind their parent or love one.... you would get burnt out in no time working 24 hours a day, with zero breaks.
