So my mom (93) is back in rehab again. Last stint was about 3-4 weeks ago, was an incredibly frustrating experience, facility went in and out of lockdown status so unable to closely follow her progression. (Which actually ended up in a profound loss of cognitive function and little if any physical improvement). Long story short, she’s been back in the hospital for newly diagnosed CHF, and has to go back to rehab. I begged them to find a rehab that allowed visitation, unfortunately she was taken to one that doesn’t. She didn’t have her hearing aids with her the first time for fear of losing them, the new rehab says as long as I bring them to her and we sign papers to that effect that if they go missing they’ll be liable. I know she would benefit from having them, does anyone know if we can hold the facility responsible for sure if they turn up missing?
Hearing aids are often lost in facilities, and not usually really the facility's fault. My mom lost hers. Who knows what she did with them. War the up in tissue then someone threw them away? Left them in the bed, they got washed? Flushed them down the toilet?
Who the heck knows.
