Find Care & Housing
Agree with PP, also would note that some facilities require that you hire someone through them.

i supplemented my Moms NH care with 4 hours a day personally. I finally used an agency for the weekends to give myself a break. Just be aware that agencies usually require a minimum amount of hours per day, usually 3 or 4. However when mom was in Independent Living we had a caregiver come in for 1 hour in the morning and 1 at night. This was not thru an agency, she was a lady that worked “off the books” who also had other clients at the IL facility and helped multiple residents throughout the day. Perhaps your Moms memory care has people like this already floating around there.

GAinPA, raising hand. When my Dad was in Memory Care, he had his regular paid caregiver helping him in the morning [she had been with Dad for a year now, starting when he was still living in his house], thus they had a morning routine. Dad saw the same happy face waking him during the week, and another regular caregiver he had for weekends].

For Dad this worked out great. The caregiver got him up and ready for breakfast. And while he ate at the dining room table with two other male residents, the caregiver would help the Staff by serving the other residents :)

Then after breakfast, if he had physical therapy, she would guide him to the therapy room. And on other days, she would take Dad to the sunroom so he can read his morning newspaper or outside for a short walk.

Thank you for your input. I am trying to figure out what will be in my mother’s best interest going forward. She is 98 and she has been in memory care for 1 year with me stopping in every day to do the 20min to 1 hour getting up routine. I am trying to balance how much money she has left and my plans to move 1 hr away and check on her once a week.
