I'm disabled and live on my own and I'm 36 years old and have no family there for me so it's hard to get to Dr appt without no license or car.

We do not provide this service. This is a forum of caregivers caring for a LO.

Are you on SS disability? If so you have Medicare and Medicaid? If you have Medicaid you can sign up for transportation thru them. Ur County Office of Aging may have buses. As a disabled person you should be able to get rides.

Even a home nurse needs an order to see a client. Call your PCP and see if this service is available where you live. Maybe the PCP has a Nurse that can come look at it.

Google medical house calls. These sorts of services are becoming more common. Do you have a "dial-a-nurse" type service available?

I'm sorry to hear this, Danielle. Definitely, I think you should get the bite looked at by a doctor or nurse. Better safe than sorry!

Do you have a doctor or clinic you normally go to? My first thought is calling them and asking the office manager if she or he knows of a service that could help. Is there a friendly church in your town or area? Even if you don't go there, you could call the church office during the work day and ask if they might be able to help.

Another thought is an organization called FISH (it stands for Friends in Service Helping). They offer free rides to medical appointments. I am not sure if they operate in Maine.

Do you have a caseworker or any sort of contact with a social service agency in your county? I think it would be worthwhile to reach out and see what's available. Here is a link I found:

https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/oads/community-support/resource-centers.html#seniorplus

The phone number for SeniorsPlus (Aging and Disability Resources) is 1(800) 427-1241. The hours are 8AM-5PM, Monday through Friday.

I hope you can get this taken care of soon so you can rest easy about the dog bite. Knowing about help that's available just in case for future situations would be good too.

Best wishes to you and let us know how you make out!
