Your loved one may not require home care or assisted living services at this time. However, continue to monitor their condition for changes and consider occasional in-home care services for help as needed.

Share a few details and we will match you to trusted home care in your area:
Your doctor is the best judge of all involved in a prognosis, and do know that as with such illnesses as MS, this diagnosis is as individual to YOU as your own Thumbprint. So much is involved. You health generally, your age, your immune system. Keep yourself as active as you are able. Get good exercise program from a licensed PT person and especially concentrate on balance exercises. Do know that exercizing for balance, strength and for your brain is the best friend you have. Keep close contact with doctor and ask for a specialist in your condition. Learn and research and join support groups whether in person or on Facebook. There are many dealing with your condition. Do know that you are NOT alone. Wishing you the best of luck and hope you will stay on forum, share your journey, give hope and help to others.
I also was recently diagnosed with PD. I have done a lot of research to get a working understanding of what I am facing. If you can, see a Movement Disorder Specialist as opposed to a general neurologist. Get into Physical Therapy, Occupational therapy and Speech/cognitive therapy. Take the LSVT speech therapy. Next to your medication the best thing you can do is exercise. Daily exercise. Find a support group, roam YouTube for great videos for informative presentations, and understand the motor and non-motorized symptoms. Contact the Parkinson's Foundation at 18004pdinfo for lots of free information pamphlets and an Aware in Care kit in case you get hospitalized for any reason. Look into participating in their free genetic testing and counseling program. Also think about trying a clinical trial (I am). And become an advocate for funding research and preventing chemical pollution in our environment. Right now no one will predict your future with this degenerative disease but you can make the best of your time and energy by taking action that can benefit you and others. Good Luck fellow Parkie.
I was curious about this too so I asked mom’s neurologist. My mom has Parkinson’s disease.
His answer was that people who are diagnosed later in life like my mom do much better than those who are diagnosed younger in life, such as Michael J. Fox.
Mom’s Parkinson’s disease progressed slowly.
She takes Sinamet to control the tremors.
She’s 95 now. Her suffering was much less when she was younger. Mobility becomes challenging during later stages.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You have a wonderful suggestion. When my mom did rehab and home health with OT and PT she improved greatly.
The Sinamet helped with her tremors but keeping muscles strong helps tremendously, not just with strength but balance and coordination.
So glad that you are being proactive in your management of this disease.
All the best.
