Mother, 97, called me a couple days ago and attacked me. I was trying to save her house from the nursing home. I was going to live in it so I could monitor her care (I live 100 miles away). She accused me of trying to steal her house and said that I'm trying to sell it out from underneath my brother which makes no sense because he's 1000 miles away and doesn't give a d*mn about that house. She said I was going to resell it and cheat my brother, but I can't, because she set that proviso up in her will, years ago. She said, "what are you going to do, just kick him out?!?"

I've never mentioned selling her house... never intended to sell her house.

He hasn't lived in that house for 40 years!

She is now blocked on my phone, I emailed the attorney she was working with and calmly informed him I WOULD NOT be her POA.

I want no part of that house, or HER.

Find Care & Housing
I read your other posts. I see where its been suggested she go to an AL but has she yet? If she is already in an AL or NH then you cannot live in her house to "save it". You have to have cared for Mom for at least 2 yrs and living in her home those two years to get a Caregiver Allowance. And prove that you can take care of the bills.

You said in one post that after a hospital stay it was determined that Mom had Dementia. You cannot deal with someone who has Dementia. And now she has it, she cannot assign a POA.

I’m just curious about this. How can you “save her house from the nursing home”? If your mother is in a Medicaid nursing home and she has this house in her name, Medicaid will put a lien on the house in order to recoup their money spent on your mother when your mother dies. I’m surprised that there isn’t a lien on the house.
