<p class="userway-s14-active">Mother has to have trees trimmed at her house today. The cost will be $1100. These are just individual guys. There is not a company. They want payment in cash. She is going to the bank today to get that cash. I am concerned about how this will look if there is ever a Medicaid look back. I am thinking we need a receipt written. And I will also take photos of the guys doing the work. This is common practice here. These guys have done work at my own house a few times. I mainly just want to make sure us writing a receipt will suffice for Medicaid purposes.

Yes, I would prefer to use someone with insurance. But I’m not going to win this one. Even my husband is OK with these people. If they sue, they’re not going to get anything is all I can say. There’s not anything to get.

This means they do not have insurance. If they get hurt on your moms property they will be able to sue. I would not hire anyone unless they have insurance.

This.

Remember what happened to the young man who was trimming trees at Dorker's brother's house?

(I'm also annoyed by people who insist on cash because they have no business license, no insurance, and don't want to pay taxes on their income. They are cheating the rest of us.)

I would make up the receipt saying "on this date, (peoples names) trimmed (how many trees) at (address) for Mrs Jones at the total cost of $1100. Then have both men sign and Mom.

I did this when we sold Moms car for cash.

I would think a written receipt will be sufficient.
Write out details as to what was done and the cost.
This is all part of home maintenance.
I doubt that photos will be necessary.
