She suffers from dementia but it's been three days and she won't let it go. Mom lives with me and has for 2 1/2 years. Physically she's not moving like she did when she first came. She's using a bedside potty chair totally dependent on a walker etc. I had to move a piece of furniture out of her room to make it easier to maneuver but now I am abusive and I have destroyed everything in her life and I am putting her in her grave. I really am at wits end here. Three days and still going at me refusing to eat and throwing tantrums says she's going to a nursing home. What do I do
One time I took Mom's diamond ring to a jeweler and had it cleaned. (because everything she owned or wore was filthy) She got it in her head that the jeweler had stolen the diamond and replaced it with a fake because to her - "it was shiny like her diamond". We heard about that darn ring for four months, had to take her to three different jewelers who verified it was a diamond (of course, she forgot we had taken her to the first two!) Even after that, we had to be careful not to mention the word jewelry or ring in her presence or it would trigger that paranoid memory and we would go around again about the diamond!
Or Mom could be just plain upset that she is getting older and can no longer do the things she use to do many years ago. I know I would be very grumpy if that was me.
