The Watkins-Logan Home decided not 2 take him because he has a tracheotomy that HE uses on his own. Cleans, suctions, everything because they don't want him to come home. He is service-connected 100% paid 2 go 2 a Warriors Home (Watkins-Logan) but was denied because they don't have a respirory therapist. If he goes into a nursing home, he said he will just be so so sad and I can't stand 2 think of such a thing. Assisted living will cost so much, I will be in the street w/ no car. Is there anywhere near Tyler, TX, that the VA would help pay for a decent living place for him where he can get physical therapy to walk better and not be put back in a 21 day AWFUL place like he went to before to rehab him back to walking?? I'm in a race for time bc he's going 2 be sent somewhere possible like the one before (it was pathetic!) no bathing, begging for his meds, it stunk, the aides were rude....I'm so desperate to find a place for him (per hospital case management)..does anyone know of a place for a 100% service connected veteran??

I have heard of NHs not excepting trachs.

You will not be left in the street. If u can get Medicaid, you will be considered the Community spouse and will not be impoverished. Your living expenses will be taken into consideration.

it's not the nursing homes..its the Warriars Home he was sooo happy to go to.Also the VA pays 100% of everything, allowing us to keep our home & vehicle.Plus I would be living 4 minutes from him.the Vetetrans Home (Watkins-Logan) denied him.Nursing homes want every dime he has, leaving me in the street.

Isn't there an 800 number to assist Veterans? Have you tried this?

The help I've had is a guy name Randy, and we keep running into $4,000 a month places...I would be out of a home,no car.I don't understand. My husband is 100% disabled "service-connected"..and qualifies for a nice Veterans Home..I am looking in the state of Texas for a place he can go,and am willing to move there close by him
