I have been my husband's caregiver for over 10 years. He has a degenerative spine disorder and used a scooter at home to get around. Now aids use a lift to move him from place to place. He believes he will be discharged in about two weeks. I will need assistance when he returns home. I cannot afford private agency aids. He is a Veteran but the VA offers very limited at home assistance, approximately 10 hours a week. I have had no success in getting information about Medicaid at home care. I would appreciate any information anyone can offer. Thank you.
In some States, Medicaid will pay for round the clock aides. Others places, not. You need to talk to the SW at rehab and/or the local Area Agency on Aging to find out what might be covered.
