She needs help with toileting and opening boxes (from mail order items), and she uses a walker, but her knees have been gone for 10-15 years. Assisted living didn't offer 24-hour service for toileting, so I moved her to memory care in the same facility and she is livid. What should I do?
If she does indeed have some dementia, don't sweat it. The place should have activities that are appropriate to her skill levels. Make sure you ask that they put her with a group of higher-functioning residents. Bring her books, magazines, ask them to give her some small jobs to help out -- anything that keeps her engaged. As time progresses, she'll fit in very well with the others.
