Find Care & Housing
Nola, your profile doesn’t have any info about yourself. Perhaps if you fill it out with a little more general info we could tailor answers better. A few questions...is your SIL a willing caregiver? Is she trying to change the situation, or have her circumstances changed and she can’t help anymore? Or are you wanting to change the situation for some reason? Can you tell us just a little about how you’ve come to need a caregiver? Are you able to organize, plan and execute a move on your own? Would she or any other relative assist you? Are you in your own house that would need to be sold for funds? Do you have long term care insurance? On Medicare? On Medicaid? It’s refreshing to hear from someone who can see the advantages of Assisted living instead of just trying to plod along on their own. You will get a lot of support here.

You do a google search "Assisted living near me" (or put in your zip code).

You call your area's Council on Aging. Or you contact A Place for Mom. The internet is a wonderful tool!

FYI these places don't publish their rates or whether they accept Medicaid so you should explain to them that it's not "easy" for you to visit and have an in-person interview YET, and you need to know their prices to know if they are even in your budget. Then hopefully they can mail or email you the information you need to make a decision.
