He has let someone move in with him because they promised to help take care of him. All they have done was wiped out his bank account of over $1,000+. He has tried to report it to the police but the police would not help him they basically just walked away from him and said they weren't going to deal with it. He has proof on his bank statements of the transactions that were made because they stole his debit card and the purchases that were made were made while he was in the hospital for 3 weeks. Is there someone that I could call to report elderly abuse and elderly financial abuse? I am his good friend and I am only looking after his best interest. He has no money for his rent for February because of the people that are living with him that are supposed to be helping him stole his money.
Has he contacted the issuer of the debit card to report the thefts? It may be that the issure will do its own investigation.
You're a good friend to reach out to help this elderly man, and it seems that he really can use a good friend as well as some legal power from the county or state. These officials could also institute actions to determine if these thieves have engaged in these tactics as part of a pattern of elderly abuse.
