Mom's legally blind and suffering from Alzheimer's. We need a phone for her in an assisted living facility that's inexpensive with not a large number of minute time. One she can answer, most particularly, for incoming calls. Are there any discounts? She has a LTC policy but not many funds otherwise and it's basically so her non-local family can call her to help her remember us before it's too late! She's legally blind, losing her memory, and we want to keep Momma happy! Any advice is much appreciated! Thank you! Missing Mom on her 86th birthday!
Most larger Independent/Assisted Living facilities have phone numbers connected to each room and have a central phone system. My Dad pays $40 a month with unlimited calling throughout the U.S. and Canada with his landline.
I tried a portable landline with my Dad when he was still living at home. What a mess. He kept forgetting to push START when the phone rang. When he did remember it, he would forget to push whatever to turn off the phone. Then he would forget to put the phone in the cradle to recharge it so it was out of use half the time. Back to the old fashioned landline which he has zero problems with using.
Landlines phone can still be found at places such as Target.
More importantly how will she take care of it ? Recharge it etc?
