I live about 2,000 miles away from my parents who live in Louisiana. My mother is about 65, works as a nanny, and cares for my stepdad who is 83.
We've just been informed that the insurance got cancelled. Likely because she did not pay it on time. This is the 4th time this has happened. Everytime we try to help, she let's us help to fix the bureaucracy of navigating the system, but she often takes over and things break.
Are there agencies that help her navigate these things or provide financial counseling so that she doesn't make these mistakes again? I feel the biggest problem is that she's not accountable to anyone and that she's not getting the right advice by herself.
In a perfect world, I would just put them under my own insurance but I don't think that's allowed (right?)
