Hi,
I'm writing this now, not for myself but for my girlfriend and my best friend. I hope you take the time to read this and any information you reply or need. I WILL respond. Because, to be honest, her heart is broken losing both parents, being the only daughter of her mother, her step-father who raised her had two daughters, both older. Who only came around of course when he was deceased, going through his finances, taking what they believed was his. So...here I go.
Literally 4 days before Christmas of 2017, we got one of the worse calls anyone could recieve. My girlfriends step-father, who raised and loved the both of them has passed from a sudden stroke. This man was also a heavy drinker, he retired from the City of Fresno as a mechanic, lived in a home, married to the woman he loved. He has two daughters, both who are evil and bullies. (Get to that later). Anyways, after passing, my girlfriend spent the next 3 months back at her mom's house, taking care of her, because she suffered from alcoholism and developed a lot of health issues. It wasn't until one day, she started to talk to the TV remote like it was a phone that, that's when my girlfriend called 911. Within a matter of days, her health declined and she had passed. It's been very hard. My girlfriend has no family left. Besides her 2 step-sisters. Before her mother had passed, 1 of the step sisters reached into my girlfriends moms checkbook and wrote a check out for $5000, saying it was for the probate and to fix the house up etc...
In April 16, 2018,(her mom had passed in February of 2018. The house went up for sale and was sold in less then 44 days for $215,000. Her sisters never made repairs, no receipts, and to my knowledge, bullied my girlfriend to sign documents. (Mind you she's grieving, and still messed up). Everything in the house is empty, her step-father was a mechanic, he had his chopper, tow trailer, every tool you can think of. He also was retired and not hurting for money. Her mother, worked for Chase Bank, for many years, with a substantial amount of cash in her account. Now, from my understanding, because they were legally married, everything was a joint account, and not once did he ever miss a child support payment, they obviously forged a $5000 because she was hardly able to even breath. But still, CA law, I thought stated, it went to the spouse. (Her mother) which in turn would of went to my girlfriend. After her death, I paid roughly $3000 to get her cremated, it wasn't until 1 week after all that, her sister insisted they start the probate process, because it would take almost a year, probate fees, house inspection, etc.. I believe that. However, if the house was caught in probate, along with her father's retirement, his bank account, her bank account, etc. Why was it able to be sold for $215,000. They weren't the type of people to spend outside their limit, my girlfriend, because she was grieving, having only spoke to her step-sisters, conned her into signing paperwork.....by the end,(11/2019), they met up with her at a local Starbucks and handed her a check for $6000.00, saying it's so low because of the debt her mother had....which the more I read, the more I realize that's the whole point of probate, on top of that, they got physical and very verbal, when asked to see the documents.....my concern.
Not once have we heard from her step-sisters, not once we're we even notified of everything going on. They didn't include the $5000.00 that they forged saying it was for probate, when they handed her the check of $6000.00, nor copies of anything after her mom passing so she could at least have a proper funeral. I wasn't aware, if a home is in the courts for probate, it could be sold that quickly....44 days? Please, thank you for reading. Any info will put our minds to rest, ask me anything. Thank you again. And God bless.

(Forgot to mention, her step-father didn't have custody, they wanted to live with they're mother)
