I am a nurse currently working in the hospital. My 85 year old parent (I don't live with her) wants me to come take her for a walk. I am not comfortable because I don't want to expose her or the other fragile person living with her. I feel guilty for saying no. Am I being overly paranoid?

I would visit her, just take the necessary precautions.

If she wants to go for a walk it should be easy to social distance.

I would go see her. Wear a mask if you are concerned about exposing her if you are asymptomatic.

Michelle, you have to go with your gut on this. As a nurse you understand the risk of exposure better than most and due to the nature of your work have a great risk of exposure.

I am not currently working and have limited exposure in my community. I am seeing my Mum 2-3 times a week as she is going out of her mind with loneliness and lack of purpose. She is 86 and is an incredibly active woman who volunteers all over, is very social and should be Dragon Boating right now.

Is there some way you can visit her at a distance?
