My dad has been in the hospital a little over a week , admitted with pneumonia admittedly got worse then turned to his kidneys failing then him getting sepsis and had to be in ICU and intubated .... He is in a regular room now and still completely out of it and today I get to the hospital and he is foaming at the mouth ... Please give me any advice you have. I'm seriously curious as to question the care my dad is getting and I'm nervous! Please and thank you!
You need to be there when the doctor is and tell him you need answers.
My dad was hospitalized with pneumonia and it ended up with sepsis. I think a compromised immune system is the culprit. It is so hard as we age, sometimes it is a small thing that takes us out. I am not saying pneumonia is small, my 52 year old sister died from pneumonia and I found out that it is still a major killer.
Have you researched what could be happening? Have you talked with his doctors or nurses? Be a persistent pain, be nice but keep asking until you understand, if they won't help you understand, call the hospital that you want him transferred to and ask them how you get him moved. He will need medical transport and the insurance company doesn't cover that unless you have a specific policy for that, find out how much and if the recieving hospital arranges it.
I am sorry that you are going through this and I pray your dad recovers soon.
