My father lives in a rural area and my husband and I live close to work. My father's arm (84yr) can not move his left arm and is starting to get to old in his mind.
So I would like to know if the government can pay me to stay with him at his home and get paid doing help him
I wish you the best. There is not enough money for me to care for my mother. I care for my granddaughter and there is no comparison. Do not give up your job, until you know where you income and retirement benefits will come from.
Also, look into various facilities for your dad. My Mother likes her nursing home and her health improved 100% after she moved there.
If you live in the U.S., check to see if your parent could qualify for Medicaid…. each State has different eligibility requirements the parent must meet. If your State has such a program to pay a grown child to care for a parent, you might feel your parent needs 12 hours of care, the program might decide only 5 hours. And you may need to take some health care courses to qualify. Plus there is a question as to if the State will pay a relative if he/she already lives full-time with the parent.
Also, check with your local Council on Aging to see what programs they offer, such as an Aide coming to the house. https://www.agingcare.com/local/Area-Agency-on-Aging
