Find Care & Housing
My son is 39yrs old. He had a shunt put in his brain on his 1st bday. At 6 he was diagnosed w/an inoperable stage 4 brain tumor and was given 2yrs with radiation and chemo. He never received chemo and is almost 40yrs old.
He has a stroke 7yrs ago which put him in a wheelchair and turned me into a full time caregiver. I knew our lives has changed that day. I knew it was going to be hard.
I stopped working and applied for the medicaid waiver and have given him my all.
I wound up with back surgery followed my a broken pelic bone due to osteoporosis while trying to lift him. The Dr said I needed help. So his dad whom I divorced 25yrs ago moved in to help. Then he has a stroke. Ughhh ....
Hes ok physically and works on a roof everyday. But has aphasia, anxiety and some dementia. He helps transfer him out of bed in morn and at nt but that's it!
We recently found out that our sons tumor has built up calcification around it that pressing on his brain stem which is causing him to decline rapidly. He's still home and coherent. But his care increases daily. He's recently become completely urinary incontinent and is very tired and "out there" like an Alzheimer's patient. He's in and out. It's really hard watching him decline like this. We go for a follow-up and prognosis on 1/17. All prayers welcome.
Im tired and so is he ...
