She’s 61 years old and my Mom is 91. She has Lyme Disease from a small tick she had in her ear and gives my Mom a pretty hard time. She’s not very positive and is in to holistic medicine. She makes $16 an hour off her besides the older sister. I know that my Mom’s health is in decline, her dementia is worse than it was over a year ago. I wanted a Moonlighting Caregiver 2 times a week. The reason for this is because an adult protective service lady (referred by my own Caseworker) said she didn’t think I could be my mom’s caregiver. So, I got the day to get a break Monday to Friday. Well, if it’s not one thing it’s another. The kitchen is no longer really ours at this new apartment by the lake.
Your body is telling you something.
Are you POA? Do you know what your mother’s assets (if any) can support more help or residential care?
If you are not considered able to care for her, are you able to make arrangements to provide an alternative?
Would it be better FOR YOU BOTH to surrender her care to a professionally designated manager? Ask your caseworker about this.
Take good care of yourself. Caregivers deserve good care too.
