One lady talked about her husband becoming violent and having to call 911. The police offered to take him under guardianship! So what does it mean to put someone in Guardianship by the State? Do they assume financial burden? Do they take the person wherever they want to? I don't know anything about guardianship. Can anyone answer my questions?

Guardianship means he will be taken care of, hopefully medicated to relieve his aggression and he will live in a senior home, or possibly a memory care facility, depending on how he recovers. The Guardian will take care of his finances only, the wife will take care of her own. The financial stuff is separated. She continues to live in her home if she can. She can visit him, but only if it is safe to do so and she wants to visit. The idea is to keep her safe, and try to medicate him to be calm. Hopefully it will work.
