I am in Medi-Cal for one year. Until recently Medicare paid all of my Part B & Part D premiums. Suddenly and with no notice Medicare stopped making these payments.
I could not find any Medicare contact information other than their 1-800 number.
I tried to use the "Chat" in Medicare website. The 24/7 operating "Chat" did not work (I deleted all signs from my message- still it did not work)
Thank You
And there are some training programs-free- throught the Alz. Association-where the family can be trained for "home health services"- personal care like bathing, dressing, toiletin, moving and transferring, etc. And also, the basics like cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. Home health services usually not covered, unless they are part of the temporary "home health care", where a nurse, etc. is needed.
Part B will cover the "medical services", but not daily household activities. They might be limited each time, but i think "intermittently". If you look online for info on Parts A&B Medicare, it will show you what's covered by each.
Part D drugs, if they are too expensive in their co-pays, may be often found through "Prescription assistance programs"-some of these drugs are free-depending upon your income. Also, "Adult Day care Services", through your state's "Dept. of Elderly Affairs", can provide a daily place for your family member to go, for maybe $7-$11.00 day. They will probably have nurses and CNA's on the premises to do the work. It's similar to a day nursing home. Activities, meals, haircuts/nails,
laundry, transportation to and from, etc. All included.
Just some alternatives to save money.
