Thank you all for your support. This website helped me so much. My dad being a proud Marine, living 83yrs independently struggled when he was confined to a wheelchair the past 10 months and private Care Home the past 4 months. When he had to start wearing adult underwear and rely on others to do everything for him, he was ready to join my mom. I’m happy he passed peacefully, but I miss him terribly. God bless you all.
He and your mom are together. May sweet memories of them both bring you peace. {hug}
Grief comes in waves. The very first father’s day after my dad died I cried and cried. Our dad’s are the first man we fall in love with. We look to him for approval. We are so happy when we make him proud. Father/daughter relationships are very special.
A good friend of mine lost her dad in a house fire when she was five years old. Her favorite thing to do is ask me to tell her stories about my dad. She says she wants to hear my stories since she has hardly any memories of her dad.
Keep sharing memories of your father. I’d love to hear a story about him. I bet you could tell tons of great ones. Please share one with us.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve. “...a practical jokester til the end...” - when you find yourself ready to fall to pieces- especially during these early days and at your fathers Celebration of Life - try to think of your fathers best practical jokes and laugh. I bet he’d like that.
My father has been gone almost six years now and still - not a day goes by that I do not think of him. I was blessed to have a wonderful father. It sounds like you were too!
Im so sorry for your loss.
