My wife has dementia and glaucoma. I first found you folks about 2 years ago and since then you have given me a wealth of knowledge about how to care for one with dementia and glaucoma. If it was not for this forum my wife would not have had the care I was able to provide. Yesterday I moved her to a Memory Care facility. I believe you gave me at least 1 more year of being able to be with her. Sorry I do not have a wealth of knowledge to give back to you but I will be eternally grateful that I found this forum that gave me the proper knowledge to care for my wife.
Why "blaze a new trail" when one has been marked already.
Your days of "caregiving" are not over, they have changed. You are still an advocate for her and must remain diligent, maybe even more so now that her direct care is out of your control.
I am sure it was not an easy decision.
I do hope that you plan on still contributing what you have learned.
Be well, you have done the best that you can given the circumstances.
May you find a healthy balance and happiness for yourself now that you have gone from caregiver to advocate.
God bless you in this new season of your life!
