My Mother's primary condition at start of Palliative was a muscle disease that includes COPD exacerbations. A recurrence of anemia is creating some labored breathing as well in which discussion of iron transfusion may be necessary as she is not able to absorb iron prescription. Hospice has indicated it will terminate Palliative if this is initiated. Why was the iron prescription not cause for revoking Palliative but the transfusion would be? Is this not 'comfort' care?

In my experience, you can talk to Hospice about what is and isn't allowed. Have mom's doctors talk to Hospice director about how this therapy is designed to comfort and not cure.
