We are going to try assistance for my 99 y/o aunt so she can return to her own home. She has macular degeneration and is legally blind, has had more decrease in her hearing, and needs encouragement to eat a better diet. Rehab is recommending 6-8 hours a day. It does not need to be much more than meal prep, general supervision when walking around the home, help when she does laundry and general light housekeeping, companionship, and keeping her moving about with exercise. She is very independent but ends up on the floor and can not get up on her own. Using an alert system has not been successful and she does things way beyond her real capabilities.
The CareLinx group looks like a great idea but I would like to hear from others who may have used the service.
I once tried to find in home care for a love one and used a list I obtained from the local Senior Center. It was a long list and I called almost every single person. Most of them were all booked up or didn't live close enough. I was shocked at how difficult it was. Good luck.
Thanks again for sharing the experiences you have had.
