As POA, I pay my mom's caregiver daily from her account via Zelle. I specifically say “caregiver” and then the number of hours in the memo.
Will using these Zelle payments in the eyes of a Medicade official be ok when going over the expenses in the 5 year look back?
So in essence I would give them bank statements to show the recipient and memo for the Zelle each day.
Thanks in advance!

That seems perfectly fine. Hiring a caregiver is a pretty normal expense and I can't see this raising any kind of red flag at all. Kind of like her having a weekly grocery delivery to her house or paying someone to cut the grass. These are just the normal expenses of living a life.

So I take it that the caretaker is an independent contractor and not with an agency? Is the caretaker a relative? I think that as long as the payment is not overly inflated but is at fair market value, you should be fine. If the caretaker is being paid the equivalent of $100/hour, that could cause problems.
