My 88-year-old father-in-law lives with us. I am concerned that if he fell at night or felt ill, we wouldn't hear him. I am looking for a way for him to reach us, but think he wouldn't wear a pendant consistently, especially when he goes to the bathroom at night. He also forgets to carry his cell phone so that isn't a good option.
Can anyone recommend a free system to use in the house that has a wrist band? Any other suggestions would be welcomed also.
Thank you
- having bells hanging on doors, along stair banisters - you'll always know his travels!
- any cordless (or corded) microphone (a must for all Karaoke enthusiasts) connected to home hifi/PA will help you hear any shuffles and grumbles
- if you have some rudimentary electrical skill (audio electronics, not mains power!), you can fashion a crude pressure switch on his bed that connects to a doorbell for early warning
- motion detector lights (free if you relocate them!) can be triggered in his room but turn on in yours
- placing a 'kitty bell' around his ankle might also give enough of a tinkle... when he is off for a tinkle ;)
