I am a POA and I am executor of the will (for finance, medical etc) for an older friend of mine. I have been taking care of her for the last four year (not in my house, but at the beginning she was in a assisted living residence until she got worse). She is now in a memory care for approximately 2 yrs . To this day, I go visit her every week, I go to the pharmacy to pick up her meds (that they call in), and bring them to the residence. (she also has delivery prescriptions). When they need something for her, they either text me, or call me. Then I go to the store pick up whatever is needed and deliver it to them. I understand I could have them order themselves, but they charge a fortune when they do. ( ex: prescriptions $280/ month as compared to $100). Could I be paid for gas and time it takes me to do this?? Not to mention I also pay her bills etc. I have been doing this since she became incapacitated. I understand it is not written in the papers.
The med thing is something I do not get, if she is getting meds delivered, and distributed by the staff, there should only be 1 fee, $280 a month. My parents pay $250 a month to have their meds distributed to them.
When my Dad was in senior living, all his prescriptions came to the facility and the facility ordered them, which was far cheaper than that of the local pharmacy. Now, Dad was changed a daily rate of $30 to have his medicine dispensed to him in the morning, and again at night. That came to $900 extra per month, but was well worth it as Dad was forgetting to take his meds.
Costs depend on location. Dad was paying $5k-6k for Independent Living, and later $7k-8k for Memory Care.
When u become Executor, u will get a percentage of her estate.
