Or is it dementia or delirium. Dad is 86 years old and is in assisted living with my Mom taking care of him. Also, he gets help with showering and sometimes with dressing. He also is very stubborn and refuses to take his medication, so my Mom grinds it up and puts it in his food. Mostly, I'm curious about the talking to himself all the time. Anyone else have this going on? Thanks!!
What type of conversations is your Dad having? Is he talking to people from his past? Is he reliving good times?
I really believe that some elders are being over medicated, thus maybe this could be a side effect of a prescribed medicine he is taking, or it could just be how his memory is working now.
As for being stubborn and not wanting to take his medicine, I believe most men are that way since birth.... nothing new.... my Dad is that way, he just doesn't like to admit that his health needs help.
