Do elderly that consume bread, pasta, toast, pizza, and other flour products become impacted by these staples? Can you explain why and what is the remedy or what would the remedy to not have flour products cause impaction? Or is it a combination of food stuff mixed with the flour product that causes impaction?

I am suspect of something causing a slow down or digestive issue on my dads right side where the intestines turn upwards at the appendix. I am suspecting this happens after two meals that are flour mixed with mozzarella. But not sure. No medications are taken.

I just wanted to know as a general question. If elders get impacted from flour products when it is a significant portion of their diet. It seems that the day care had bagels as an activity and my relative became impacted. I can not determine if this was the cause.

It is far likelier that impaction is caused by opiate-based painkillers. I should review your elderly loved one's prescription with her doctor before I made major changes to her diet.

I know that it is the modern health fad to blame wheat for all of our ills but given that humans have been consuming it for millennia I am skeptical. Lack of physical movement, constipating health conditions and medications and a diet that is not balanced with fruits, vegetables and whole grain fiber are the most likely causes of bowel dysfunction.

More information: How old are the people with the problem? Are they close to death? What do they eat that is not causing problems? What do you mean by 'impacted' - constipation? Is it just wheat flour - and have they had any problems with gluten before? Thanks.
