I live in Montana. Just 3 hours ago they announced we finally have several cases of Covid-19.
My Aunts ALF is in Contra Costa county, Ca. They have been on basically lock down for 5 days.
My Mom's ALF is close to me here in Montana. They went on lockdown this afternoon.
I understand how frustrating it is to think that we can't be there for them. But keep in mind that our elderly population is most at risk for death from this virus. Just like the flu.
The facts are still not clear !!
Even if it turns out to be media frenzy, won't you feel better if you know you did everything in your power to protect your loved ones?
By staying away as we've been asked, your not just protecting your loved ones, but potentially everyone else's loved ones!
DO NOT endanger your loved ones and the loved ones of others by breaking the lock down. As the famous Seattle case has shown, once it starts in a nursing home it spreads quickly and widely. They are too vulnerable and too crammed together for it not to.
I work in a daycare and currently have at least two children who are, quite frankly, sick in my room. Not wanting to lose a day’s pay and with no consideration for the daycare staff, the parents send them anyway. it’s this sort of behavior that passes along not only the Coronavirus, but other life-threatening illnesses as well.
And the number of "concerned" people I have seen who do not wear a simple mask correctly continues to astound me. Mask goes over mouth AND nose. Both! Not just over the mouth.
We all need to do whatever we can.
