My 87 yr old mother who has dementia is having a total knee replacement April 2. The family thought all legal matters were handled and that 2 of my sisters BOTH had DPOA. Come to find out only 1 sister has it, and she is out of the country at this time. My father also has dementia and CHF, so he is unable to handle things, should there be a problem. A living will and a trust was done about 30 yrs ago and no info on the attorney that originally drew up the papers. Any suggestions?? We live in Ohio. Thank you
While an option, I would advise against more than one person being the durable POA.
BTW, do you have medical POA for your parents? If not, this is a good time to get that done also.
Hope this helps.
