She walks with help, eats herself, reads, and sleeps a lot, but lately does not seem to understand what is going on and gets very fearful. She will start screaming for no reason. She will try to get up from the toilet even when she is still going. If I attempt to curtail her movement she fights like a demon, but does not understand what is happening or why I need to keep her from trying to take off on her own. I was wondering if there something I can do to get thru to her and have her understand that I am not trying to kill her when I stop her from hurting herself, or when I have to stop her from doing other things that are not healthy for her or anyone else in the house. I try to explain to her that I love her but cannot allow certain activity that is harmful to her or me...?
After whatever this is gets cleared up, please seek evaluation by a geriatrics doctor, who can evaluate her need for care.
